Hello, I’m Gabriela Leddy! The 2019-2020 school year will be my second at STEM School Highlands Ranch and I am really excited to be teaching Language Arts for another year here. No matter what content I am teaching, I always like to encourage curiosity and enthusiasm in the classroom, with a focus on transferable skills.
I received my undergraduate degrees in Public Relations and History from the University of Georgia. I went on to complete my MA in Early Modern History and my PhD in History from the University of York in the United Kingdom, where I taught undergraduate classes for six years. My research concentration was on the history and rhetoric of witchcraft and demonology in sixteenth- and seventeenth-century England.
After years of teaching undergraduate courses, I am excited about seeing the transition from high school to college from the other side. My approach is to engage students with the process of self-driven inquiry into the material, academic writing skills, and critical analysis. I strive to provide a challenging, interdisciplinary course load to prepare students for wherever their academics or careers take them. Student voice and choice is also a top priority for me.
In my free time I enjoy skiing, reading, and hiking with my daughter and husband. I also love all things geeky; my favorites include Harry Potter, playing video games, and Halloween. I hope that my passion and enthusiasm shine through my teaching, inspiring kids to follow their interests with integrity and zeal.
