The 2020-2021 school year will be my fourth year at STEM and my 20th year in the classroom. (Time sure flies by when you're having fun!) My career has been pretty diverse. I began my career teaching elementary school as a 5th and 6th grade classroom teacher. I then taught Pre-K-8 Art for over a decade. Most recently, I have been teaching middle school Economics and Art at STEM. (Talk about a right-brain/left-brain job description!) The accomplish I am most proud of at STEM is the creation of the STEM middle school Real World Economics course. We are the only school I know of that offers a middle school economics elective and it remains one of the most popular elective courses offered at STEM. This school year, I will be going back to the Social Studies department full time and will be teaching the middle and high school Economics and Psychology classes.
Over the years I have earned teaching endorsements in Elementary Education, K-12 Visual Art, 6-12 English Language Arts, and 6-12 Social Studies. These endorsements are possible because I hold an undergraduate degree in the Humanities with an emphasis in English, Psychology, and Art from Ft Lewis College. In July, I will be eligible to add a Principal Licensure to my endorsements and I will finish my Master's Degree in School Leadership at Regis University in December of 2020.
Outside of school, I'm the mother of three STEM students. Our family likes to camp, hike, and hangout with our two dogs. I love to garden and am a Community Master Gardener.
