2nd Grade Math - Ms. Silvaggio’s Class (March 30th - April 3rd)
Assignments will be posted on Google Classroom each day. Students need to click the “turn in” button to submit their assignments. I will submit my attendance to the school based on at least one assignment being completed for each day. I will have the overall week listed in email as on the school webpage if you child would like to work ahead or have an overview of the week.
Now that we have made it through our first week of getting used to virtual learning, I am going to add some of the other components we normally complete in our math class each day. If at any time this is too much or too overwhelming, please just reach out and let me know. I want to make sure and provide the best possible education, although I am still learning what that exactly looks like. So feel free to modify as needed. Students may feel motivated to finish the math list to have choice time - which many students enjoy prodigy. Maybe you can even set up common times for your child to play prodigy with other students.
If you have access to a printer, you may print out the problem set and then scan it. One parent using the free app “Genius Scan”. You can upload the completed assignments to Google Classroom.
If you don’t have access to a printer, your child can write the answers and work on any paper and then scan it and add it to Google Classroom.
You may also try an online editor and submit work that way. One student shared this editor with me: https://www.sejda.com/pdf-editor
When we start Module 5, I will create the problem sets on Canvas so students can enter the answers online and just use scratch paper or a notebook to do the work. If it is easier to print and scan, you can stick with that method as well. The module focuses on addition and subtraction and should be easier to answer questions online.
Thank you for your patience as I experiment with attempting to find the best solution during this time.
We have created a spreadsheet of 2nd Grade Zoom times. Please refer to this document when joining a meeting as some of the original times have changed.
I will be hosting optional Math Zoom office hours once a week for students to ask questions, check in, or just say hello!

We received this update during our staff meeting on Friday, March 27th:
STEM teachers will not be penalizing students at any time for late or missing work during the time we are out of school.
Students will be able to earn credit to improve their grades with assignments turned in and NOT earn zeros or recieve less credit for items turned in late.
These are additional resources if your child would like to engage in additional math activities.
