I simply cannot state how excited l am to be a part of STEM School Highlands Ranch. This will be my 4th year STEM school and I will be teaching fifth grade Engineering with Math and Integrated Literacy. I attended the University of Northern Colorado and then completed my Masters from the University of Phoenix. I love working with pre-teens as they begin to find their way into adolescence and to help them find what they are passionate about learning.
Educationally, I have always been a constructivist and believe that students learn best by building and exploring. What ignites my teaching is watching students build up to that struggle point in their learning, and then with a gentle nudge, they are able to break through that barrier and see solutions or something different to try. This is what gets me going in the classroom and I am fortunate enough to get to get this euphoric rush many times a day. I couldn’t ask for anything better!
When I am not teaching, I love spending time with my two daughters who are 9 and 6. Helping them explore the world is a miracle and a blessing.
I also have coached high school and youth track and field and love to play tennis, rock climb, basketball, and tinker around in my shop.
Thank you to all the parents that share your most precious children with me. I look forward to learning and growing with them this year!
