Meg Tokunaga is in her first year at STEM School Highlands Ranch, serving as the K-8 Dean of Students. Prior to working at STEM, she spent 5 years at Eagle Rock School and Professional Development Center as the Music Instructional Specialist, where she taught music, theatre, and dance, and was also a House Parent. She also served as a founding member of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee, a member of the Restorative Action Support Team (RAST) and was the founding Lead Houseparent. Prior to teaching in Colorado, she taught PK-8 Music in Chicago Public Schools and various educational settings around the city including Catholic Schools, private vocal and instrumental lessons, and is a certified KinderMusik Teacher.
Mrs. Tokunaga earned her B.A.of Music Education at VanderCook College of Music in Chicago and is currently earning her Master's in Educational Leadership at the University of Northern Colorado.
A Colorado native, Mrs. Tokunaga grew up in Aurora and Greeley and went to high school at Greeley Central where she participated in choir, musical theatre, forensics, and government. She lives with her husband, a music educator and percussion specialist, and their dog, Luna. They love to go on hikes, try new foods, going to the theatre, and watching soccer!
