Heather Dillon's Bio

Hi!  My name is Heather Dillon, and this is my fourth year at STEM School Highlands Ranch. I teach 8th grade language arts as well as accelerated 8th grade language arts. I also coordinate the gifted and talented program for 8th grade. I earned my BA from Metropolitan State University, with a major in English and a minor in mathematics.

I was born in California and moved to Colorado when I was in 8th grade. After graduating from high school, I studied electrical engineering at the University of Colorado, Boulder for three semesters before realizing that what I really wanted to do was to teach. I switched my major to English and received a BA with emphasis in Secondary Education. I taught English at Thornton High School and then ThunderRidge High School. I became a substitute teacher in Douglas County for ten years while our two boys were in their early school years, but after subbing at STEM, I was drawn to its innovative and unique learning environment and decided it was a great opportunity to return to teaching full-time.

This summer, our family enjoyed backpacking in Colorado, and my husband and I celebrated our 25th anniversary. In my free time, I love to sing, bargain-shop, travel, cheer for the Broncos, and enjoy time with friends and family.
